NK Bharali is Oil India’s new Director (HR & BD)
Nripendra Kumar Bharali has taken over as the new Director (Human Resources and Business Development) of Oil India Ltd.
He was holding the position of General Manager (HR&BD) at the corporate office prior to assuming the charge of Director (HR&BD), a company statement said here. A post graduate from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, Bharali graduated as Petroleum Engineer from the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, and started his career with OIL as a senior executive in 1982.
As Director (Human Resource and Business Development), he will be responsible for creating a leadership team at the senior management level in line with business needs and the ever-changing environment in the industry.
He will also be responsible for business development activities at OIL, which involves scouting and acquisition of global exploration and production (E&P) properties, pipelines and E&P services, it added.
New Basin Manager joins ONGC Assam
Dr BS Josyulu has taken over as the new Basin Manager of ONGC’s Assam & Assam Arakan Basin.
He will spearhead this Basin of ONGC at a significant juncture, when sustained high crude oil prices have led India’s flagship explorer ONGC focus exploratory efforts in the logistically-difficult areas like north-east.
A Doctorate in Geophysics from Osmania University, Dr Josyulu has made a name for himself in the technology-intensive Geo-scientific field. Highly technology-savvy and a hands-on geoscientist, he applied new innovative techniques and his early pioneering work in 3D seismic interpretation resulted in a number of oil and gas discoveries in Upper Assam, Krishna Godavari (Andhra Pradesh), Cauvery (Tamilnadu), Bombay Offshore (Arabian Sea) and Cambay Basins (Gujarat).
Dr Josyulu’s name is synonymous with the many firsts, the First 3D seismic interpretation over G-1 structure in KG offshore, Evaluation of first time lapse 4D data over Neelam field, Fractured basement reservoirs over Khoraghat, maiden deep water discovery by his team under Sagar Samriddhi over G-4 and ultra deep water discovery of ONGC, to name a few. He evaluated various foreign acreages in Angola, Iran, Yemen and Vietnam.
In Krishna-Godavari (KG) Offshore (Bay of Bengal), he steered all the major exploration activities and established substantive new oil and gas potential in KG shallow and Deep water areas. Dr. Josyulu was the man behind the commerciality document of KG-DWN-98/2, which opened up ONGC's east coast gas bonanza.
ESI to provide secondary health care options
The ESI Corporation has decided to provide secondary medical care services directly in areas where its existing hospitals are more than 25 km away from the concentration of insured persons.
The ESI Corporation made a decision to this effect at a meeting chaired by Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge.
To ensure that there is no shortage of widely used and life saving drugs in the state ESI hospitals and dispensaries, the corporation has also approved a pilot project for direct procurement and supply of these drugs to the states.
The entire expenditure will be fully borne by the ESI Corporation outside the ceiling. The ESI Act has been amended and now it would be possible to utilise spare capacity of under-utilised hospitals on payment of user charges for schemes notified by the Centre. Kharge also announced that the revenue income of the corporation is about to exceed Rs.5,000 crore in this financial year.
IndianOil Day celebrated
IndianOil Day was celebrated with gusto across India. In the nation’s capital, the celebrations were led by Chairman, IndianOil BM Bansal and Functional Directors in the presence of Minister of State of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Jitin Prasada; Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, S Sundareshan.
Congratulating the IndianOilPeople on the occasion, Jitin Prasada said, “I am happy to see that IndianOil has metamorphosed from a predominantly refining & marketing entity to a company with diverse business interest across related areas.”
Praising the widespread reach of IndianOil, Sundareshan said, “From North to South and East to West, no family in India is untouched by IndianOil”.
On the occasion, Bansal said, “Several decades ago, it was the historic day of 1st September that announced the birth of IndianOil. This Company has grown to be the largest commercial enterprise in this country and now, aspires to be the Energy of India.”
GAIL signs CSR pact with Tata
GAIL (India) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences have inked a pact for collaborations in areas of Corporate Social Responsibility. This is first ever initiative of any Public Sector undertakings in the field of CSR activities.
SL Raina, Director (HR), GAIL and Dr S Parsuraman, Director, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) signed the MoU.
Speaking on the occasion, BC Tripathi, chairman and managing director, GAIL said that this is a very significant move towards a meaningful contribution in this area. CSR has become a fashion these days but it needs to be taken as a passion.
With 35 work establishments of GAIL, such a pact with TISS is going to help different site offices to develop passion for delivering the CSR goals of the company.
He reiterated that beyond the business is something that we must talk and “as the first PSU to have signed a MoU with TISS, we look forward for its meaningful implementation and be satisfied ourselves rather than being praised by others in the area of Corporate Social Responsibilities”.
Dr Parsuraman said that TISS has always been working with communities and groups and adding value through engagement of people. With signing of this agreement, GAIL has become one of the first institutions which has reposed so much faith in TISS, which has a very strong view that Indian PSUs are engines of growth and spearhead and strengthen the value of serving society.
