GAIL launches helpline in GAIL Garima CSR initiative
GAIL (India) Ltd and AROH Foundation jointly organized a conference on Women Awareness and Safety on 8 October, 2013, at Pearay Lal Auditorium. Objective of this conference was to create awareness about women’s rights, existing and new law and order provisions for their safety and launching of a helpline for the beneficiaries of GARIMA project, which is a GAIL CSR initiative in partnership with AROH.
Mamta Sharma, Chairperson, NCW, was the chief guest and Dr Chandra Tripathi, the first lady of GAIL India, was the Guest of Honour. Dr Neelam Gupta, President AROH Foundation, Dr Sanjay Dubey, ADG Prasar Bharti, Lakshmi Kamath, ACP Women’s Cell, Vandana Chanana GM (CSR) GAIL, were also present on this occasion. More than 600 beneficiaries of the project GAIL GARIMA benefited from this conference.
Mrs Vandana Chanana (GM-CSR of GAIL India), in her inaugural address, welcomed the dignitaries and addressed the gathering on Women’s Empowerment, Safety & Rights. In her address she stated that the program GAIL GARIMA has been devised to empower less privileged women residing in the slum pockets of Delhi, NCR, with vocational skills like Cutting & Tailoring, Beauty Culture, Handicrafts, Food Making, etc. so as to make them independent and live their lives knowing their rights. The program, which has been initiated in the year 2011, has till now empowered more than 5000+ women and is on the path of covering more women in the coming years.
