NMDC, IOC and THDCIL celebrate Vigilance Awareness Week
The week long Vigilance Awareness Week Celebrations of NMDC concluded on a high note as it was presided by the Chief Guest Shri Pratyush Sinha, former central vigilance commissioner, Government of India. The valedictory function was attended by the functional directors of NMDC, Shri N.K. Nanda, director (Technical), Shri. Subimal Bose, director (Production), Shri S.K. Das, director (Commercial), Shri Rabindra Singh, director (Personnel) and the chief vigilance officer, Smt. Usha Chandrasekhar amid a huge gathering of officials and employees of NMDC.
Shri Pratyush Sinha while addressing the employees of NMDC highlighted the importance of adopting good practices in Public Procurement. He detailed the necessity of making transparency and integrity a reality in all aspects. He emphasised on the need for taking all necessary steps to make the tender procedures transparent and equitable thereby maximising competition. Shri. N. K. Nanda, director (Technical) while welcoming the chief guest highlighted the good procurement practices being followed in NMDC.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Usha Chandrasekhar, CVO, NMDC said that everyone should inculcate a sense of values for making real change in the system. She also said that good governance and prudent practices are essential for all public establishments.
During the week long Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations, the Vigilance Department of NMDC organised talks by eminent personalities like – Shri. V.V. Lakshmi Narayana, joint director, CBI, Shri. Jitendra Kohli, an expert on e-procurement and Shri. K. Bikshapathi, vice president, National Institute of Smart Government, Hyderabad. A workshop on e-procurement was conducted for the benefit of the officials of NMDC and the vendors. During the workshop, a presentation by on e-procurement was made by Shri. N. Srinivasan, general manager (Materials). Competitions were conducted among the employees in essay writing and elocution and prizes to the winners were distributed on the valedictory day by the Chief Guest Shri. Pratyush Sinha.
On the occasion of celebrating Vigilance Awareness Week, THDC India Limited signed MoU with Transparency International India (TII) on “Integrity Pact” with a view to promote and strengthen transparency in procurement and contract management. The integrity pact was signed by Shri. R.S.T. Sai, CMD, THDCIL and Shri. P.S. Bawa, chairman, TII on November 3rd, 2012 coinciding with the conclusion of “Vigilance Awareness Week”. Addressing the gathering on the occasion CMD, THDCIL and Chairman, TII stressed the need for good governance and ethical behavior in all business dealings. Shri. Rajan Nair and Shri. R.D. Gupta (Independent External Monitors), Shri. C.P. Singh, director (Finance), Shri. D.V. Singh, Director (Technical), Sh. S.K. Biswas, Director (Personnel) and Shri. Himansu Badoni, CVO, THDCIL and other senior officers of THDCIL were present on the occasion. THDCIL is one of the premier hydro power generators in the country with commissioning of Tehri and Koteshwar Dam to its credit and is bestowed with Mini Ratna-Category-I & Schedule ‘A’ status.
‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ was also observed at IndianOil’s Pipelines Division. Shri. Sunil Kumar Singh, IAS, Chief Vigilance Officer, IndianOil addressed senior officials of IndianOil’s Pipelines Division on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week recently. Mr. V.S. Okhde, director (Pipelines) informed that Pipelines Division has initiated bill tracking system to enhance transparency in business activities.
