Bell Helicopter India Operations
Founded in 1935, Bell Helicopter continues to set the pace for the industry and expand the scope of vertical lift. Bell Helicopter was the first to obtain certification for a commercial helicopter. Over its rich history, Bell has delivered more than 35,000 aircraft to our customers around the world. Voted “No. 1 in Customer Support” for 18 years in a row by readers of Professional Pilot magazine and six consecutive years by the readers of Aviation International News, Bell is an industry leader with unmatched name recognition.
Bell Helicopter started its operations in India in 1995 with a liaison office in New Delhi. Today, Bell Helicopter has grown to more than 100 employees and has offices in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. After bringing the first helicopter to India back in 1956, the Bell Helicopter fleet in India has grown from only two helicopters in 1994 to over 100 helicopters today making Bell Helicopter the market leader in India. Bell Helicopter also has two Customer Support Facilities (Airworks in Mumbai and Deccan Aviation in Bengaluru), one Independent Sales Representative (Jubilant Enpro) and a Customer Support Engineer solely dedicated to support Indian customers.
Nearly 60 % of all helicopters produced are Bell helicopters and 98 % of all new helicopter missions were pioneered in a Bell product. Bell Helicopter currently produces a wide variety of transport and executive aircraft which includes the 429, 412, 407 and 206L-4. Bell also has military programs including the AH-1Z, UH-1Y, OH-58D and the V-22 Osprey tilt rotor.
Bell Helicopter brought its 429, the world’s newest helicopter to India in 2010. The Bell 429 has a state-of-the-art, fully-integrated glass cockpit; an advanced drive system that delivers power and superb performance; best in class WAAS navigation and IFR capability. The additional gross weight certified by the Indian DGCA now permits operators to equip the Bell 429 with additional options and directly translates to greater range and loiter times. Air ambulance and law enforcement operators in particular will be better able to serve the needs of the public, saving lives and protecting communities.
The Bell 407, which has landed at the density altitude 23,000 ft. in India, continues to be one of the most sought-after helicopters in today’s market. The Bell 407 integrates reliability, speed, performance, and maneuverability with a cabin configurable for an array of missions and payloads. In the new 407GX, the superior performance of the 407 reaches a higher level with its Garmin G1000HTM flight deck which provides critical flight information at a glance for greater situational awareness and safety.
The Bell 412 offers operators the highest dispatch reliability in the twin-engine class, and is heavily relied upon in critical situations. The Bell 412 reliably performs in the most extreme climates on the planet every day. Its expansive cabin can be configured to accommodate either cargo or personnel. The 412 is certified for single pilot IFR with a dual digital automatic flight control system allowing for automatic approach to hover and automatic hover capabilities.
One of the most recognised police aviation units in the world, the New York Police Department, began utilising the Bell 412 for air-sea rescues and has now expanded their usage of the versatile aircraft to include counter-terrorism and other law enforcement missions to protect the city.
