Neyveli Lignite Corp wins India Power Award 2012
NLC has bagged yet another award for its performance in the field of Power Generation. The India Power Award 2012 instituted by the Council of Power Utilities for the largest lignite power generating company was awarded to Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited. B Surender Mohan, CMD of Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited received the India Power Award 2012 in a function held at New Delhi.
The Jury comprising of eminent personalities from the Energy sector have unanimously recognised the contribution of Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited in the category of largest lignite power generating corporation. The Award was given away by Dr M R Srinivasan, member, Atomic Energy Commission and in a grand award function held at India Habitat Center, New Delhi in November 29, 2012.
The Council of Power Utilities (CPU) is an umbrella organisation of Power utilities in India was established in 1983, aims at formulation of solutions of problems besetting the power supply industry through interaction between the indigenous utilities and also between utilities of developed and developing countries. It offers an excellent platform to the Power utilities and others, associated with power supply industry for interaction and helps to evolve solutions for the problems faced by power supply industry in the areas of eco-friendly power generation, transmission, distribution and utilisation.
This “India Power Award” was instituted in the year 2008 by Council of Power Utilities (CPU) to recognise and acknowledge the organisational/individual contribution for the development of energy sector. Standardising procurement procedures of important items of equipment, disseminating information of other utilities both national and international in the form of pamphlets/small publications for benefit of the members, publishing quarterly journal “India Power” in which contributions are made by senior level executives of the council and power supply industry are the other main objectives of the Council of Power Utilities.
