Coal India Ltd has bagged the Standing Conference of Public Sector Enterprises (SCOPE) award for “Excellence and outstanding contribution to the public sector management” in the Institutional category 2007-08.

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh recently gave away the award to Partha S Bhattacharyya, chairman CIL in an official award ceremony “Mou Excellence Awards and SCOPE Excellence Award” held in New Delhi.

Earlier, in August 2009, Dr UD Choubey, Director General, SCOPE, officially announcing the award stated that “Selection of this prestigious award has been based on stringent criteria devised/evaluated by International Management Institute (IMI) and a distinguished panel of eminent persons as jury”.

SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises—an apex body of Government owned Public Enterprises under Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises) Excellence Awards have been conceptualized and instituted to recognise the contribution of public enterprises and to encourage outstanding persons for their hard work and leadership qualities.
