Neyveli Lignite Corporation has set the target of achieving lignite production of 222 lakh tonnes and power generation of 17,200 million units for 2009-2010.
In this regard, NLC chairman and managing director AR Ansari signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Secretary to Union Minister of Coal C Balakrishnan in New Delhi.

The MoU is also an effective interface between the government and the public enterprises for ensuring operational autonomy for the PSUs with corresponding accountability for the results. The statement further states that the NLC had been signing such an MoU from 1990-91.
A Memorandum of Understanding negotiation meeting was held with the Task Force members for finalising the targets and the same was approved.
