Director (HR) inaugurates video conferencing facility at Dehradun
KS Jamestin, Director (HR), ONGC inaugurated the Video Conferencing System at ONGC, Dehradun. He congratulated Infocom for successful commissioning of the project which has been started in order to facilitate the fast decision making process at the corporate level and quick dissemination of information. It will help in avoiding significant expenditure on account of travel and time.
He emphasized on the optimal use of the system by ensuring sharing of presentations and documents during Video Conferencing. He also stressed on training more people on the features of the system so that it can be utilized whenever needed.
The Video Conferencing System at ONGC, Dehradun is installed under the Video Conferencing Project, completed recently by Corporate Infocom, New Delhi. 22 Video Conferencing systems including 5 multiparty conferencing systems have been installed at various locations of ONGC.
World Environment Day celebrated
ONGC organised the World Environment Day 2011 function at Port Blair, which was chaired by CMD AK Hazarika.
CMD Hazarika spoke about various initiatives of ONGC in protecting the environment. Some of the examples cited by him were mangrove plantation in Gandhar area, Ringal plantation in Upper Himalayas, registration of projects for carbon credits and development of alternative sources of energy using renewable wind energy project at Gujarat. He emphasized that ONGC works on the philosophy of sustainable development pivoted on three pillars, environment, economy and society with right balance among the three.
The Commemoration at Port Blair kicked off further environmental awareness activities to be held at Delhi/Noida during the coming week. Several important events like Coast Guard Oil Spill Exercise and work shop on Oil Spill response were organized during the event at Port Blair.

ONGC top brass held an interactive session with its sports persons.
The top honchos including CMD AK Hazarika, KS Jamestin, Director (HR), along with other senior executives had a very meaningful and fun filled interactive session with leading sport stars of ONGC.
Sports fraternity of ONGC had the presence of its internationally acclaimed stars like Pankaj Advani, Billiards & Snooker player, Gautam Gambhir of cricket, Koneru Humpy (ranked No. 2 in the world) of chess, Kavita Raut of Athletics, Asian & Commonwealth medalist from Athletics, Table Tennis, Kabbadi, Golf, Tennis etc.
Koneru Humpy in all humility said, “ONGC is probably the only organization that truly encourages the sports person to excel and perform by giving all the support that a sport person looks forward to. In my formative years, I was struggling to establish myself and was looking for support from corporate.
It was only because of ONGC’s top management recognizing me and my talent in the sport that I was able to win accolades. In the upcoming tournament, I shall do my best to bring the title back to India.”
