CB Paliwal takes charge as SAIL CVO
Chandra Bhushan Paliwal, 56, has assumed the office of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL). Prior to this, he was Joint Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training of the Ministry of Personnel since 2006.
After completing his M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Kanpur, Paliwal joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1981 (UP cadre). In the 29 years of his service in various senior and middle management level postings across India, he has accumulated rich and varied experience in the fields of public administration, personnel management and policy planning for public enterprises, as well as project and development management. He obtained his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree in community development projects from Hull University, UK in 1999-2000.
Possessing excellent communication and computer skills, he enjoys working in demanding situations. Before his stint as Joint Secretary (Personnel & Training), Paliwal served in various capacities in the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh — as Commissioner (Transport), Secretary (Jail Administration Reform Services; Chief Minister’s Secretariat; Animal Husbandry & Fisheries; Forests; Industrial Development), Coordinator for several World Bank-aided projects, and Managing Director of a number of public sector enterprises.
Paliwal’s career has been strengthened with training in a variety of disciplines, including Public Finance Management, Institutional Development & Team Building, SHGs & Rural Micro-Enterprises, etc., in prestigious institutions such as JFK School, Harvard University, USA, AIIDMT and ASEED, New Delhi, ASCI, Hyderabad, MYRADA, Bangalore and IIM, Ahmedabad. He has several publications on project and credit management to his credit.
