State-run Hindustan Petroleum Corp ( HPCL) director-marketing Nishi Vasudeva has been elected as vice president - Youth & Gender, Executive Committee of World Petroleum Council at the recently concluded World Petroleum Congress (WPC) held in Doha, Qatar, the oil ministry said in a statement.

“Ms Vasudeva was elected after three rounds of voting,” the statement said. Election of the executive committee of WPC is held by secret ballot.

The election of vice president Youth & Gender required the affirmative vote of two thirds of the member countries represented and voting in the first two rounds of voting and a simple majority of member countries represented and voting in the third or subsequent rounds, it added.

The World Petroleum Council, established in 1933, is the only international organization representing all aspects of the petroleum sector. Headquartered in London, the World Petroleum Council includes over 60 member countries from around the world, representing over 95% of the global oil and gas production and consumption.
