The year 2009-10 has been a successful and eventful year for Neyveli Lignite Corporation limited. The company has scaled new heights in its Physical performance in the areas of lignite mining and Power generation
State-owned Neyveli Lignite Corporation generated 1,766 crore units of power during 2009-10, Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal said. Power generation at 17,657.94 million units (gross) and power export at 14,827.50 MU during 2009-10 were the highest since inception, he said.
The previous highest was 17,456.89 MU and 14775.84 respectively during 2007-08. The gross power generation from Thermal power station-II was 10,560.05 MU with the previous highest being 10,517.69 MU during 2007-08.
Lignite production was put at 223.38 lakh tonnes against the previous highest of 215.86 LT during 2007-08. Net sales up to the third quarter of 2009-10 stood at Rs 3,017.58 crore compared to Rs 2,589.24 crore in the previous year.

Lignite Production:

Overburden Removal: - Overburden removal for the Company as a whole for the year 2009-10 at 1594.25 LM3 was the highest for any year since inception. (previous highest 1463.44 LM3 during 2008-09).
- Overburden removal from Mine-II & Exploration for the year 2009-10 at 782.63 LM3 was the highest for any year since inception. (previous highest 659.64 LM3 during 2008-09).
- Power generation at 17657.94 MU (gross) and power export at 14827.50 MU during the year 2009-10 were the highest since inception. (previous highest 17456.89 MU and 14775.84 MU respectively during 2007-08)
- Power generation gross from TPS-II during the year 2009-10 was 10560.05 MU and this was the highest for any year since inception. (previous highest 10517.69 MU during 2007-08)
