Chairman and Managing Director of South Eastern Coalfields Limited, MP Dikshit has been awarded with Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering on the basis of the Thesis submitted on “Strata Support Interaction in Thick Seam Longwall Extraction in India” (Faculty – Department of Mining Engineering).
The Degree was awarded by Vice Chancellor of one of the reputed Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shibpur and communicated by the Registrar of the University on 7th April, 2010.
Dikshit was undergoing the Research for the past five years on , “Strata Support Interaction in Thick Seam Longwall Extraction in India – UG Mining”.
He has completed his PhD under the guidance of Professor & Scientist and former Director AK Ghosh of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and Dr.S Dasgupta, former Head of the Department (Mining Engineering) Bengal Engineering & Science University, Sibpur (Howrah).
Dikshit is the first CMD, who while successfully leading the premier coal producing company in the country viz South Eastern Coalfields Limited and achieved this distinction. Earlier, Dikshit has been selected as “Visiting Chair Professor” by premier institution Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
He has been meritorious student through out his academic career and completed his Degree in Mining Engineering from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. A topper of 1981 Batch he has also been honoured with “Best Student Award”.
